Smartphones have become an important way for many among us—particularly younger generation—to communicate, go online and access and share information. The younger lot especially depends on their devices for internet access. I have noticed quite a few among them checking their phone for messages, alerts, or calls—even when they don’t notice their phone ringing or vibrating. Some even sleep with their phone next to their bed because they want to make sure they don’t miss any calls, text messages, or other updates during the night. But owing a high-end phone can be a financial burden for some users, and this is where domestic handset makers have capitalised on the market opportunity. They have introduced decent phones with a good set of high-end features at affordable rates.
Intex Aqua GenX is one such device. I have reviewed several Intex phones in recent years and I can say with confidence that their handsets are reliable, powerful and have a long battery life. Out of the box, the Aqua GenX phone is a combination of style and function. It features a metal unibody design and 5.5-inch full HD display with Dragon Trail Glass protection.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels at a PPI of 401 pixels per inch. Aqua GenX packs features like a Q-Key on the right side to set shortcut for any feature, glove mode for touch and my touch to access apps by creating shortcuts on the screen.
The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz octa-core processor. It comes with 2 GB of RAM, you’ll get 16 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card. There’s a decent long-lasting 2850mAh non removable battery that’ll get you a day’s use with a solid chunk to tide you over into the next morning/early afternoon. It has dual SIM capability and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G, 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope.
The first thing that struck me was how light the phone felt in hand. The device looks extremely slim and Intex has to be given credit for doing a good job with the design. When it came to simple activities like checking e-mail and surfing the Web, the phone performed swiftly and smooth. I rarely had an issue with crashing apps, sluggish behaviour.
My takeaways: There are many competitively priced smartphones available, but the Intex Aqua GenX is well-built and affordable with a snappy performance. In short, in you are in the market for a decent smartphone then this Intex device can be a good choice.
