Android, Google’s mobile operating system, rocks and here’s why. It offers a sleek and stylish user interface that is highly user-friendly. More than that, it’s an open source service. This means that it’s free and anyone can use it. Apps are freely made and designed for Android by numerous app developers all over the world and these apps are offered for free on Google Play. This feature of open source has attracted mobile makers to manufacture phones using Android OS. Recently, we received three new, feature-packed Android devices and here’s our take on them.
HTC Desire 628 Dual SIM ( R13,990)
HTC phones have a reputation for being stylish and beautiful and the Desire 628 dual SIM doesn’t disappoint one bit. Its distinctive dual tone colour design paired with powerful cameras, display, and sound makes it as stylish as it is powerful. The phone’s 5-inch glass front blends seamlessly into the side frame for a cleaner look. It comes in two colours, Cobalt White and Sunset Blue; it has a beautiful soft-touch feel to it and is an elegant device in terms of its looks. At the same time, it’s remarkably lighter and slender—just 142g and 70.9 mm thin.
It’s not only the exterior of the HTC Desire 628 that is stylish and unique: With HTC Themes you can customise everything from wallpapers, icons, fonts and ringtones to suit your personality or mood. When it comes to capturing images, the HTC Desire 628 has you covered front and back. The 13 MP main camera captures high-resolution photos and detailed 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second, and even takes great pictures in low light with its f/2.0 aperture and BSI sensor. The 5 MP front camera is good for casual video chats.
A great phone is only as good as the processor, memory, and battery that keeps it running smoothly. The HTC Desire 628 packs a 64-bit, octa-core 1.3 GHz processor with 3 GB of RAM. Its 32 GB of built-in storage can be augmented with MicroSD expansion to a whopping 2 TB, while the whole package is powered with fast 5V/1.5A charging to get you up, running, and out of the door in no time.
The HTC Desire 628 retails for an affordable R13,990 and take my word, it
truly stands out from the crowd.
Panasonic Eluga A2 (R9,490)
The new Panasonic Eluga A2 is designed for those who are always on the move. It retails for R9,490 and has a powerful 4000mAh battery. This 5-inch HD IPS display phone is available in metallic finishes, it is equipped with 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. The phone comes along with expandable memory card slot, which can be used to extend the capacity by a further 128 GB. Weighing only 167.5 gm, this thin and light device is for working professionals and heavy users (students included) who seek a great looking device and a longer battery life.
On the camera front, the Eluga A2 has 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and
5 MP front camera for capturing the perfect moments and selfies. For connectivity, the device supports 4G VoLTE and has a dual SIM—4G/3G/2G configuration, direct Wi-Fi and hotspot, Bluetooth and A-GPS. It runs Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS with Panasonic Fit Home user interface for single hand operation with quick access to the apps.
In actual usage, the Eluga A2 comes across as a nifty device that is powerful and versatile. Internet browsing is fast on the phone and there is no lag whatsoever while switching between apps. Its battery is pretty impressive.
Vivo V3 (R17,980)
Chinese smartphone brand vivo is rather bullish on its India foray and its new device, vivo V3 looks and sounds great. Yes, the company attaches a lot of importance to the Hi-Fi music quality of its mobility devices. The V3 sports a 5-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) display, it runs on the company’s Funtouch OS 2.5 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device is powered by an Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC coupled with 3 GB of RAM. On the camera front, there is a 13 MP rear camera, and an 8 MP front-facing camera.
It sports 32 GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128 GB). It offers the standard connectivity features, including 4G LTE support, and runs on a 2550mAh battery.
The V3 is made for music lovers and offers deep music experience with
excellent sound output. I tried out its sound capabilities in various scenarios and the phone lived up to its reputation.
It emits loud and crystal clear audio without any crackling noise when listening through loudspeakers, and also good for listening at noisy environments like while travelling on a public transport via headphones—all you get is clear bass and stereo effect.
The V3 retails for R17,980, it has great design and build and in my assessment, it can be a great option that audiophiles can consider to
purchase, purely for the great music experience it offers. In other words, enjoy your entertainment undisturbed.
