Every day we are exposed to smoke, dust and vehicular emissions, and over the course of our lives this can have a very harmful effect, and lead to an increased risk of serious disease. Research indicates that people spend majority of their of their time indoors. Thus, for many people, the risks to health may be greater due to exposure to air pollution indoors than outdoors. No wonder, these days it is common to see air purifiers in offices, homes and restaurants.
Recently, Atlanta Healthcare introduced two new air purifiers with 7-stage filtration and monitoring. Priced at R14,950 and R26,950, Beta 350 and Universal 450 are fully loaded air purifiers with the company’s widely acclaimed iCluster technology and humidifier solution. We got the Universal 450 for a product evaluation, let us check out some of its features and performance.
Easy to install and operate, the Universal 450 is sleek, slim and lightweight (6.5 kg weight and body dimensions of 565 x 360 x 195 mm), making it portable and easy to use anywhere in your home, but thanks to the extreme low noise levels it’s best used in the bedroom. The air purifier is best suited for indoor spaces (office and home) upto 450 sq. ft. requiring clean, odour free environment which needs constant humidification. It has humidifier, air quality sensor and filter change indicator. Company officials claim that the Universal 450 is very effective to combat air pollution and prevent asthma, allergy and air borne infections. It helps keep air fresh and free of bad odour, dust, mildew and pollen.
With advanced ultra-silent motors, the Universal 450 is ultra-silent and has very low noise levels while running. You won’t hear it, it’s that quiet! Its LED display indicates multiple operating modes, and the machine stops if front panel is opened. The machine has remote control and can be operated in manual, timer and sleep modes.
The Universal 450 has 7-stage technology that includes pre-filter, anti-bacterial filter, HEPA filter, activated carbon filter, photo catalyst oxidisation, UV light and ioniser. These series of filters help to remove dust, suspended particulate matter, air-borne bacteria, viruses and lingering smells and to enhance humidity. The air purifier also generates 10 million negative ions per cubic meter per second. Negative ions are found near waterfalls, mountains and green areas like forests that keep you fresh and vitalise your mind and body. The humidifier feature is used to increase humidity in the room in peak summer and winter. This is optional operation if required.
A few final words. I have been using the Universal 450 for over two weeks and the machine is pretty efficient at doing its job of cleaning the indoor air. This air purifier will eradicate all pollutants found in the air inside your home. It’s quiet, easy to use and looks great, though it has a somewhat steep price tag. But then, it has the power to eliminate all indoor pollutants and that’s what matters most.
